Piggyback lenses in nanophthalmic eye with angle closure glaucoma by Ike Ahmed

This 17.5mm nanophthalmic eye had piggyback IOLs placed many years ago, who presented with synechial angle closure glaucoma. This is one of the concerns of piggyback IOLs in these small eyes. Both IOLs were explanted, and a high-power foldable IOL was placed in the bag, and goniosynechialysis performed. Often these eyes are at risk or develop malignant glaucoma, and an irido-zonulo-hyaloidectomy should be performed.
